Tell us about yourself!

I grew up on the Mornington Peninsula, attended local schools, Flinders Christian College and Mount Eliza High School. After leaving school I worked in the hospitality industry for many years, including the Western Port Marina & various hotels before moving into Human Resources & recruitment which I have worked in now for more than 24 years. During this time I have had successful businesses, in both recruitment and hospitality. I have always been heavily involved with the local communities in one way or another. I have sat on many boards, and committees. Currently I am the chair of one local community group in which we provide great support and assistance to many organisations and sporting groups. I have been a past councillor in another shire and know how to navigate through roadblocks to get this done for the community

2. Are you a member of a political party, or are you endorsed or affiliated with a political party?

No, I am not a current member of any party, nor am I endorsed by any party, I have DONOT have any desire to run at any other level of government.

3. What do you see as the key issues facing the Mornington Peninsula Shire?

Lack of accountability of council, failure to the rate payers. 1/ hold the council to account, 2/ freeze rates for at least 1 or 2 years, 3/ stop the paid parking on the foreshores, 4/ get rid of the proposed building tax on residential buildings, 5/ STOP wasteful spending, 6/ fix the local roads

4. What skills and experience will you bring to your role if elected to Mornington Peninsula Shire Council?

I have been a PAST councillor in another shire, I know how to navigate through the roads blocks to get things done. Experience on numerous boards asking the hard questions, and then questioning those answers. Be transparent with the community, remove blockages to allow for things to be achieved quickly and cost effectively.

5. Do you support the re-zoning of surplus Port-zoned SUZ-1 land to industrial and residential, to assist in keeping high-tech manufacturing jobs on the Mornington Peninsula and provide long-term strategic planning to the housing crisis in our region?

We need to maintain as many jobs in our community - I would need more detail before providing a detailed response

6. What role do you believe local government can play to help Mornington Peninsula Shire Council reach the Victorian Government’s ambitious housing targets of 31,000 new dwellings by 2050?

This council needs to lift it's game in approving applications within it required times - this would allow for more housing quicker.

7. Do you support efforts to redevelop Rosebud Hospital? What tangible role can local government play in advocating for funding for this project?

Yes this is a great asset for the community, as a council we need to strongly advocate to all parties to assist to fund this for the whole community.

8. Why should ratepayers vote for you?

As a past Councillor I have the knowledge and experience to keep rates low, preferably with a zero-rate increase, without reducing services, managing budgets and building more community hubs, not just for sport, but also for our senior groups. I will focus on the essentials, road maintenance, footpaths, waste management and our parks. I will advocate for better focus on tourism to support our local business. I support good governance and transparency to the community. My experience on boards (current & past) will be advantageous to ensure we get things done in a positive manner and achieve good outcomes for the community.

9. If you are elected, what would you like your legacy to be at the end of your four year term?

If I could achieve all of question 3, answers :hold the council to account / freeze rates for at lest 1 or 2 years / stop the paid parking on the foreshores / get rid of the proposed building tax on residential buildings / STOP wasteful spending / fix the local roads that would be a terrific legacy

10. How important to you is the relationship between Mornington Peninsula Shire and the Committee for Frankston & Mornington Peninsula? What would you do as a councilor to maintain and improve that relationship?

Ensure there is strong and regular communication, representatives for each to hold regular discussions/forums and report back to each side be it quarterly or bi-annually. Have goals to work towards, report on progress of these at the discussion.

I know it will be a tough 4 years however we have the ability to achieve some great outcomes for the community - I look forward to working with all sectors of our community - I have achieved this in the past & looking forward to doing again for the communty
