2024 Annual General Meeting

On Wednesday 13 November the Committee for Frankston & Mornington Peninsula held its Annual General Meeting and released its 23/24 Annual Report to members.

We were delighted to be joined by our two wonderful special guest speakers: Simon McKeon AO and Hon. Bruce Billson.

Chair Shannon Smit welcomed everyone to McClelland Sculpture Park & Gallery and thanked members for their support over the past year.

The key highlight of 2023/24 was the successfully run Future Forum held in April. This was followed by the launch of the Committee’s Strategic Plan which has given the Committee a platform for advocacy heading into 2025. Shannon thanked members, the board, and CEO for their work this year.

CEO Josh Sinclair also ran through the highlights of the past twelve months as the first full year of a fully merged organisation with both the full Committee for Frankston and Mornington Peninsula.

Touching on highlights presented by the Chair, the CEO also noted the success of two advocacy visits to Parliament in Canberra and Melbourne where the Committee had met with senior Ministers, Shadow Ministers, and leaders to present CFMP’s Strategic Plan, which has provided  a blueprint for future advocacy visits.

Treasurer Chris Procter presented the Financial Report for 23/24 to members, and highlighted the healthy and sustainable financial position of the Committee, noting a net year surplus of $54,237.

A full financial statement is included in the Committee’s 23/24 Annual Report.

The strong financial position is due to an increase in membership revenue thanks to new member engagement and strong retention of existing members. It also includes a ‘merger’ contribution from the previous Committee for Greater Frankston which took place this financial year.

Simon McKeon and Bruce Billson provided an overview of the importance of regional collaboration above partisan politics, across all levels of government, and being in the room when it matters.

They outlined what we can learn from other regions and why strong, long term and committed advocacy is crucial in achieving positive changes and investment for Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.

It's always a pleasure to have both of them at our events and we'll continue to work with Simon and GSEM and be guided and inspired by Bruce in 2025!
