Local nursery industry on show at Spring Street

The Committee was delighted to attend the Nursery and Garden Industry of Victoria's Annual Horticulture Showcase at Victorian Parliament in August at the invitation of CFMP Member Cohort Nursery and Botanix.

This industry is worth $2.5 billion and employs more than 24,000 people. Melbourne’s South East - and specially Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula - is home to many NGIV members, including Australian Growing Solutions.

Top of the advocacy list is the establishment of a Horticulture Centre of Excellence. This centre would help address critical workforce shortages and skills deficiencies in the industry and significantly strengthen the horticulture industry in Victoria.

The Committee strongly supports further funding of this initiative and calls for the Centre of Excellence to based right here in Melbourne's South East and the Mornington Peninsula.
